Advanced Program for grade 7-8 students
Starting September 2023
COURSE OBJECTIVES
This program is designed for advanced middle school students. The requirement for this course is for the students to complete Problem Solving 3 (Middle School Math) or equivalent as we expect students to have strong core concepts. Students in this course should be able to perform well in contests like American Math Contests, CEMC Gauss and Pascal, Math League International Algebra Contest, Mathematica AMC 8 etc. Students are expected to do 2-4 hours of assignments every week.
- Review Core Concepts
- Learn Advanced Math Concepts
- Advanced problem-solving techniques
- Applied math concepts through real-life problems
- Enable critical thinking through appropriately challenging problems
- Learn to be competitive by practicing competition tests with others in the course
- Opportunities to participate in national and international competitions
We will only take 15-20 students in the course and many spots are already filled. Hurry up if you would like to be a part of one of the best programs in Canada. You may review the achievements of our students in the school year 2021-2022. Our students performed well above the Canadian average in all competitions and won many national and international awards.
Included Competitions
The name Competitive Kids STEM indicates our intention of preparing students for the contests. Considering this we are making it mandatory for our students to participate in math competitions. To simplify the process, we will cover the cost of the following contests for all our students as long as these contests are available online.
Global Math Olympiads
American Math Olympiad (AMO)
Singapore & Asian Schools Math Olympiad (SASMO)
Canadian Math Summer Contest (CMSC) - 2 rounds
Mathematical Olympiads for Elementary & Middle Schools (MOEMS) - 5 Tests spread over the course
National Math Contests
Canadian Mathematical Gray Jay Competition (CMGC)
Canadian National Math League (CNML)
American Mathematics Competition (AMC 8)
Mathematica Contest or equivalent contest
Computing Contests
Beavers Computing Contest (BCC)
Canadian Computing Summer Contest (CMSC)
We are not limited to these contests. We will provide additional opportunities for the students to participate in the contests. High-performing students will be selected for the team contests such as Berkely Mini Math Tournament, Purple Comet etc.
