Coping Together With COVID-19

Let's focus on positivity

March 19, 2020

The entire world is in shock over COVID-19 and we all hope for the situation to improve soon. Most of us are practising "Social Distancing" and bound within our houses along with family. Kids are home as schools are closed atleast for the next three weeks, potentially longer. While this is an opportunity for spending time together as a family, however, it gets depressing quickly, watching news, no outings or play-dates for kids. Its very important to keep kids engaged in the activities which help them stay positive and social while their learning still continues.

To provide uninterrupted learning to our students, we are making all our programs online. In addition, to help our community, we are also starting new online programs to engage kids which will be completely free to join. We are working with industry professionals to conduct one of our most creative program called "Future Engineers". In this 6 weeks long program, we will be focusing on five different areas of engineering and will explain how these different areas get applied in our lives through a set of highly engaging problems e.g. how to design timing of a traffic light. Professionals will also do a short presentation and explain different types of engineering in addition to answering questions. The following areas of engineering will be covered:

  1. Mechanical Engineering
  2. Civil Engineering
  3. Biomedical Engineering
  4. Electrical Engineering
  5. Software Engineering

This program is designed for middle-school kids. We are confident that kids will love this program. This program is starting on Mar 26th. You can find more details of this program at: https://www.ckstem.org/future-engineers.

We will appreciate if any one is willing to help us run this and other programs. We are also looking for engineering professionals who are willing to do a presentation and answer kids questions.

We are also posting a number of previous math contests for kids to try. Kids will get a detailed explanation of answers after they complete the test. They can find these tests at: https://www.ckstem.org/mathematica-contest-prepration.

We are open to receiving suggestions on any additional programs that you would like us to run for helping students. We will do our best to help while the world is fighting this virus. Please share this message with others so that they may also benefit from it. As this program is online, people can join from anywhere as long as the timing works for them.

Let's hope for the best and work as a unified community.
