The Competitive Kids STEM (CKSTEM) is proud to put together a comprehensive plan for preparing students for the science contests. This training is free for every student in the global science contest - VANDA. We will share 10-12 sessions covering in the next four months for grade 3-11 students. This training will cover all major topics in science required for elementary, middle, and high school.
For our first lesson, the CKSTEM team spent a million bit(ter)-coins to research sources on earth to light up the entire world. We found volcanoes are the brightest thing on earth. We tried using energy from volcanoes to distribute light across the globe. We burned all our bit(ter)-coins to fumes, as you can guess.
In a nutshell, we don't have enough resources on earth to light up the entire world. Hence, we had to outsource energy supply to the sun, which is only 147.19 million km away. Seriously, is there nothing nearby that can give us enough light to survive? Our research team contacted Fortune-500 companies and asked them to design a torch that could light up CN Tower in Toronto from New York. Unfortunately, they failed to create anything meaningful even after we promised them a billion bit(ter)-coins.
Seriously, we expect an object 147.19 million km away to send light to us, but we can't even send light from New York to Toronto. This object called the Sun must be very special. What is it really? How much time does Sun need to send lights that far away? More importantly, it's free. This is very confusing. Maybe we should take the following lesson to learn more about the sun. Thank you, God, for the Sun. We still can't believe that light travels from the sun to earth in just 8 min, but it's the truth. Our research team started to explore more ideas. One member lit up a torch in a dark room and put her hand in front of it. Something crazy happened. The hand started to glow while most of the light was blocked. Our researcher thought she got some magical powers. She soon realized it's just science, and she is just a normal human being.
The team wondered what would happen if something came between the sun and the earth. Will that thing glow just like a researcher's hand? Hmmm... What can really come between the sun and the earth? This is incredible. There is so much going on between the sun and earth, but they are deeply in love. Even eclipses can't separate them. According to Hindu mythology, when husband and wife take seven rounds around fire, they are married forever. The earth is never tired of the circling Sun. Maybe we should learn more about this deep love and villains coming between the couple. VANDA course promises to uncover this mystery about the solar system. You will undoubtedly find this training very helpful to prepare; however, we encourage you to review sample tests from the contests to learn yourself applying concepts to solve problems. This training is CKSTEM's initiative. It can not guarantee your success in the competitions. However, it will help you learn and understand science better. We hope you will find it helpful.
