MATH PROBLEM SOLVING - LEVEL 5

*program FOR the STUDENTS aiming to win harder contests starting September 2021*COURSE OBJECTIVES

### The main goal of this level is to prepare students for advanced math competitions such as the University of Waterloo - CEMC's written contests including Euclid, The Canadian Open Mathematics Challenge (COMC), The American Mathematics Contest 10 (AMC 10), American Invitational Mathematics Examination (AIME) etc. Only students who aim to excel in Math should plan to join this course. You can expect assignments that will need 3-5 hours of work every week. If you would like to be a winner, you need to earn it by doing a lot of practice. Motivated grade 6 students are able to do very well with these advanced concepts, hence, age is not a criterion for success. You are guaranteed to get a highly competitive environment as you will have national champions in your class.

1Algebra (10 weeks)

- Core Concept Review - Quadratic Equation, Factorization, Graphing Lines, Functions (students are expected to know basics of these concepts)
- Inequalities
- Complex Numbers
- Graphing Quadratics
- Graphing Functions
- Polynomials

2Counting & Probability (8 weeks)

- Basic Counting Techniques Review - Independent Counting, Permutations, Combinations (students are expected to know basics of these concepts)
- Advanced counting techniques e.g. star and bars, pigeonhole principles etc.
- Pascal's Triangle and its applications in problem-solving
- The Binomial Theorem
- Geometric Probability

3GEometry (9 weeks)

- Review basics of Triangles, Quadrilaterals, and Circles (students are expected to know basics of these concepts)
- Trigonometry Basics
- Geometric Inequalities
- Three-Dimensional Geometry

4Number Theory (8 weeks)

- Number Theory Basic Review
- Base numbers
- Modular Arithmetic (including Linear congruence)
- Diophantine equations
- Euclidean algorithm

All Math Problem Solving courses are 35 week course starting September 2021. Please select a course that meets your requirements. Our programs will run till the end of June 2022. To make it easier for the families, we are breaking total fees of $1000 in two instalments of $500 each.
