MATH PROBLEM SOLVING - LEVEL 5

*program FOR Grade 8-9 STUDENTS aiming to win GLOBAL contests*COURSE OBJECTIVES

### The main goal of this level is to prepare students for advanced math competitions such as the University of Waterloo - CEMC's written contests including Pascal, The Canadian Open Mathematics Challenge (COMC), and The American Mathematics Contest 8/10 (AMC 8/10), Global Olympiad etc. Only students who aim to excel in Math should plan to join this course. You can expect assignments that will need 3-5 hours of work every week. If you would like to be a winner, you need to earn it by doing a lot of practice. Motivated grade 6 students are able to do very well with these advanced concepts, hence, age is not a criterion for success. You are guaranteed to get a highly competitive environment as you will have national champions in your class.

- Review Core Concepts
- Learn Advanced Math Concepts
- Advanced problem-solving techniques
- Applied math concepts through real-life problems
- Enable critical thinking through appropriately challenging problems
- Learn to be competitive by practicing competition tests with others in the course
- Opportunities to participate in national and international competitions
- Math circles to learn additional concepts for the contests

### We will only take 15-20 students in the course and many spots are already filled. Hurry up if you would like to be a part of one of the best programs in Canada. You may review the achievements of our students in the school year 2021-2022. Roughly 90% of our students performed well above the Canadian average in all competitions and won many national and international awards.

INCLUDED COMPETITIONS

### The name Competitive Kids STEM indicates our intention of preparing students for the contests. Considering this we are making it mandatory for our students to participate in math competitions. To simplify the process, we will cover the cost of the following contests for all our students as long as these contests are available online.

### Mathematical Olympiads for Elementary & Middle Schools (MOEMS) - 5 Tests spread over the course

### Canadian National Math League (CNML)

### American Mathematics Competition (AMC 8)

### Canadian Mathematical Gray Jay Competition (CMGC)

### Candian Math Summer Contest (CMSC) - 2 rounds

### CEMC Gauss Contest

### Mathematica Contest

### We are not limited to these contests. We will provide additional opportunities for the students to participate in the contests. High-performing students will be selected for the team contests such as Berkely Mini Math Tournament, Purple Comet etc.
