CKSTEM is very excited to share our partnership with Singapore International Mastery Challenge Center (SIMCC) in Canada. SIMCC is one of the largest academic contests organizers in Asia to groom and identify talent. We are committed to offering more opportunities for all students to gain international recognition through academic competitions. As a result of this new partnership, we will offer several English, Mathematics, and Science contests for grades 2 to 12 students. In the coming months, we will be able to provide exciting opportunities to the kids to not only shine locally but to exhibit talent internationally with scholarships and specialized training in science and math as well.
To begin this exciting journey, we are offering all our students an opportunity to participate in the American Mathematics Olympiad (AMO). This is an international math competition for elementary, middle, and high school students jointly organized by SIMCC and Southern Illinois University (SIU). It promotes the importance and a deeper understanding of math. AMO is open to all Grade 2 to 12 students and its framework is based on The US Common Core Standards (which are similar to Canada).
A group of the best educators from Southern Illinois University with comprehensive knowledge and experience in the Common Core Math curriculum design unique papers to challenge the student and at the same time promote their interest in math. Some of the distinguished benefits (or The key benefits) of AMO are university scholarships, Global Scholars Program, International Junior Honor Society (IJHS) membership, tuition grants, and internships.
CONTEST DATE & TIME
AMO will be held online between October 31st & November 5th, 2022. We allow multiple slots to give flexibility to students and schools to participate in the contest on weekdays and weekends. In case we get a lot of requests, we may have to split participants into even more groups. You can register for this contest here. Please use your personal Gmail or Microsoft account to log in if you are not an existing CKSTEM student.
The contest is 60-90 min long, but we need students to join 30 min before the contest start time so that we can explain the rules and set up screen sharing or zoom monitoring. Please note that it's a world olympiad, and we need to ensure the integrity of the contest, hence, all participants are required to share their screens and video during the contest to qualify for the awards. We are also working on a locked-down browser and expecting it to be ready for this contest. In that case, setup time will be reduced significantly.
CONTEST FEES - DISCOUNTED PACKAGE TILL OCTOBER 2022
We are excited to announce that we offer a package of 4 Global STEM Olympiads for a nonprofit price of just 100 CAD if you enroll by October 15th, 2022. The suggested cost of this package is over 160 CAD. We are able to reduce costs for you as we don't make any profit. We only charge for the cost involved in running these contests.
To reduce administrative costs, we only offer these olympiads as a package of 4 contests to the individual participants. We will not offer individual contests directly to the students. If any school is interested in participating, we can help them participate in the contests if they have more than 25 students.
You are required to create an account with CKSTEM to register for the contests. We have simplified the process by integrating with Google and Microsoft Single Sign-On (SSO) process. This allows users to use their existing Gmail or Microsoft email address to log in to our portal. You can find detailed instructions to register here. It will take only a couple of minutes for you to create your account. If you have an account already, then you can use it to register for the contest. Email us if you have any questions.
The Top 40% of the participants will receive an award certificate and a medal. all winners are invited to compete at SIMOC 2023 to be held in Singapore. The top 20% of winners are invited to compete in STEAM AHEAD 2023 - IJMO to be held in Bali, Indonesia.
The contest fees paid by students to Competitive Kids STEM for hosting competitions are non-refundable. To be allowed to host these contests, our organization pays a fee to the various external organizations that own these competitions. It is a significant amount of time and resource investment, not to mention the various charges paid for processing these payments to the external organizations, various third parties and financial institutions.
As a nonprofit organization, CKSTEM operates in a very lean manner and limited resources to keep our operating costs low in order to make our offerings available at a much lower cost to the students. Hence, we will not be able to offer any refund for contest fees to students for withdrawals or cancellations beyond our control.
If any student has been wrongly charged by CKSTEM, or we cancel an event due to reasons under our control and there are refunds provided to us from the external organizations, we will happily refund the fees paid by the students (deducting the processing charges).
