      Vision 2020

      Vision 2020

      · Coach's Corner

While it’s time to say goodbye to 2019, I am glad to embark on a key initiative for the community and kids though Competitive Kids Nonprofit organization. This service to our community will keep me grounded for the rest of my life.

Nowadays, I sleep with a dream of making Canada an "Epicenter of Technology". Canada's natural resources may not last forever, however, if we can mobilize our youth to excel in global STEM competitions and make them learn to lead innovation, we will be in a great position in the next decade.

While the focus is Canada, this cause has no boundaries. Our Executive Team would like to share resources and spread knowledge with like-minded people globally. We would like to be a global force to make STEM education affordable to every child without any barriers of ethnicity, location or financial resources.

It sounds impossible at times but this vision keeps me going. I am counting on all of you to be part of this cause by becoming a learner, contributor, or a leader. Key for our success lies in volunteers as their selfless drive will make us achieve these goals. We would also like to make sure that our volunteers get an opportunity to work on unique, real-life, top-notch projects to drive success in personal and professional endeavours. This way, they can gain real experience and skills which will help them solicit great jobs while providing them fulfillment and satisfaction of making an impact on society.

In 2019, we volunteered 600 hours and helped dozens of kids within the fields of maths and robotics. We also won the Best Coach award in FLL. We would like to help thousands of kids, volunteers and mentors to fulfill their dreams in 2020 across the globe while focusing on making Canada an "Epicenter of Technology".

We are still busy building our roadmap, however, details regarding a few key initiatives that are planned to begin the first two quarters of 2020 have already been finalized.

      1. Conduct the largest free AI conference in Canada for High School kids and their families.
      2. Select "Super 10" Canadian middle school students and train them to compete in global competitions. Details of this project will be released later this month.
      3. Launch community software projects while giving opportunities to the volunteers to get relevant experience in order to meet their professional requirements for growth.
      4. Start a series of "How to Think Like a Computer Scientist - Python/AI Courses" focused on high performing middle and high school students. This course can benefit adults as well to get hands-on programming with some of the best IT professionals. These sessions can be done globally through online classes.
      5. After a great success of online math classes, on parents' demand, we are starting in-person math classes for the middle-school kids starting Jan 13th. Hurry up to enroll as very few spots are available as of now.
      6. Classes for Junior Robotics Engineering starting Feb 5th focused on teaching programming skills and core values to kids for success in robotics competitions including FLL. Space is limited so hurry up to enroll before all the spots are gone!
      7. Take our FLL community team Roaring Bots to bigger heights with Mission 500 focused on continuous improvement of robot design and software to achieve over 500 points.

This is just the beginning. With the start of the new year, this vision is taking shape and hoping with the help of our community- both local and global, we can scale this to great heights. The hope is together we can build a platform and system which will allow us to reach out to all interested students globally without any barriers. For any queries, feel free to contact us: info@competitivekids.org

Happy New Year To All Of You. Wish Us Good Luck In This Noble Cause. Together We Can Do It!

Feel free to reach out to me @Yogesh Kumar.
